Guidelines for the Prevention of Opportunistic Infections in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients

Abstract: The American Academy of Pediatrics endorses and accepts as its policy the Guidelines for the Prevention of Opportunistic Infections in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients.

These guidelines have not been reaffirmed or updated since they were published in October 2000. The CDC has no plans to revise them and considers them still in effect.

The recommendations in this statement do not indicate an exclusive course of treatment or serve as a standard of medical care. Variations, taking into account individual circumstances, may be appropriate.
